AFC found out about the oriental festival in Fortune landmark, and couldn’t resist. We went over with some guest reviewers, more below.
As we walked into the restaurant, we were a little disappointed as nothing told us there was a festival ongoing at the time. We were seated in the middle of the room, with everyone in the room queued up at the buffet. When we inquired about the festival, we were offered the regular menu with one page mentioning ‘oriental festival’.

Here is what we ordered:
  • Tofu with vegetables
  • Chilly paneer
  • Butter garlic prawns
  • Diced chicken with triple sauce
  • Nasi Goreng and rice
  • A Red Snapper
  • Grilled fish a la orchid
  • and some veg pasta
Everything was served out of order, the grilled fish was served with the starters and the pasta came in last.

Our guest reviewer was Umang , a hard core vegetarian and a dear friend. Take it away Umang.
Umang: “Let me get started with the review. This is my first time where I am giving an honest review. The food was good except the Chilly Paneer wherein the Paneer did not taste very fresh and soft.
The presentation of food was just delicious especially the Non – vegetarian food which unfortunately I could not have.
The most disappointing part to me was the label “Oriental Festival”. There was nothing to call it a festival the sole reason I pulled AFC there. The Oriental Menu was from their regular menu and no new dishes were added to the menu for the Festival. Further the Vegetarian options were very very less.
Except for a separate Festival Menu there was nothing to remotely suggest a Oriental Festival as they also served regular dishes and the buffet there.
Lastly, the finger bowls had cold water instead of Warm water.”

Whole steamed Red Snapper: Red snapper in Ahmedabad? We just had to try it. Whole fish steamed with an onion and some seasoning…it was a delight to the taste buds. For a fish lover there is nothing better than a fresh fish with just the right seasoning that does not over power the palette and this one was just perfect. The portion was large and would have been sufficient for 2 with a side dish.

Grilled fish a’la Orchid: A good choice for your dinner. Not a very big portion. Includes a good healthy size of fish, 2 pieces. They were soft, delicate with the pleasant flavor of garlic. On the side beautiful, colorful sautéed vegetables. Plus two slices of crispy, tasty garlic bread. The size of the dish is definitely for one person and not more.

Nasi Goreng: The presentation of this dish was commendable and it was delicious. A little on the spicy side, however it was a treat to have this Indonesian delight. Portion size was huge and I especially loved the crispy prawn crackers on the side.

Butte garlic prawns: Large fresh prawns, a tad spicy but really really good.

Diced chicken with triple sauce: small portion but we had this with the Nasi goreng and it was delicious.

Even though presentation was ok, service slow and confused &  it didn’t seem like a festival, we were still mostly happy and satisfied with the food. Will we visit again, yes!
