Check out the Video recipe above.

We got together to watch the football match and decided to cook pasta, a yummy, easy to make dish. We decided to go with chicken spaghetti with white sauce. Here is how we made it:

  • Salt
  • Spaghetti
  • Onions, finely chopped
  • Garlic 3 medium sized cloves
  • Chicken, 300 grams, chopped in small pieces
  • 3 Bell peppers: green, yellow, and red
  • Herbs: rosemary, can be substituted by thyme or oregano
  • Butter
  • White flour
  • Milk
  • Cheddar cheese or any other cheese of your choice

Bring a large pot of water to boil, add a tablespoon of salt, then add the spaghetti and cook until al dente.

Meanwhile, in a large skillet fry the chopped onions, add chopped garlic and fry for couple of minutes, then add the chicken pieces and stir with a wooden spoon. Add salt and pepper to your taste. Add half glass of water and cover the skillet with its lid to let the chicken cook.

By now the spaghetti should be done, drain and leave it in the strainer. To keep the spaghetti from getting sticky, you can pour a glass of cold water on it every 15 minutes and keep stirring it in the strainer.

Once the chicken is cooked, and this you know when a fork can easily prick it, add the chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, the herbs, and salt and pepper to your taste. To make it tastier, instead of adding oil, you can add butter when needed. Stir for couple of more minutes, and then cover the skillet once again to allow the vegetables to cook.

Meanwhile you can prepare the white sauce. Heat a small skillet, add a table spoon of butter, and let it melt. Add a table spoon of white flour and stir rigorously until a soft pace is made. Add the milk and keep stirring, lastly add some cheese and stir until you have a soft creamy sauce. Set aside.

Once bell peppers are cooked, add the sauce followed by the spaghetti and stir. At this stage you can taste and add more seasoning if necessary. Stir for couple of minutes so all ingredients are well mixed. Optionally, you can add the cheese at this stage instead of mixing it with the sauce.

To serve you can add some finely chopped bell peppers and sprinkle crushed peanuts on top.

Bon appetite!
